Albert Pavlovich Baskakov (1928-2015)
Albert Pavlovich Baskakov, Professor Emeritus UrFU, Honored Scientist of the RSFSR, died on January 21, 2015. Baskakov Albert P., born in 1928, graduated from the Faculty of Energo Mashinostroitelny, Moscow Power Engineering Institute named after V. M. Molotov in 1950. After
presenting his PhD thesis at the same institute, in 1953, he was
appointed assistant to the chair Boiler Plants (later "Industrial
power") of Ural Polytechnic Institute named after S. M. Kirov.
At that department he was first an assistant (1953-1956), then Associate professor (1956-1964), Head of the department (1964-1998), Professor (1998-2011), and finally Professor Consultant (2011 onwards).
At the Department A. P. Baskakov created the largest scientific school in Russia to study fluidized bed systems and based on which to create fundamentally new technologies. Theory and technology of metal heat treatment in a fluidized bed, which were developed under his leadership, received international recognition. In the ninety eighties the USSR defense industry entirely switched to the heat treatment of a number of parts in fluidized bed.
