AN ADDITIONAL LOOK IN TURBULENCE STATISTICS
ABSTRACT
This paper reports three experiments, performed in the plain wake behind a cylinder, free round jet and zero-pressure-gradient boundary layer. An X hot-wire probe was used in the free flows and twelve-sensor
probe in the case of boundary layer. The statistical relationships between higher-order velocity moments in the far-field of the wake, analogue to relations previously proved by other authors in turbulent boundary layer
and round jet, are given for the first time. It is also verified that two classes of statistical relationships, linear and parabolic, are valid both in bounded and free shear turbulent flows.
