AB - Wishing to give an additional insight into the research activity in Yugoslavia, Editorial Board of the journal THERMAL SCIENCE has an intention to devote in each issue enough space to inform international scientific 
community with review of the most outstanding scientific results achieved in Yugoslavia in past years. Following this idea, in No. 4 of the THERMAL SCIENCE, published in 1995 as English issue of the Journal TERMOTEHNIEKA, 
a review paper was published, covering research activity in Laboratory for Thermal Engineering and Energy, of the VINČA Institute of Nuclear Sciences, in the topic — boiling heat transfer and two-phase flows hydrodynamics.
This time, the whole issue is devoted to the research activity in the field of compact heat exchangers. In this number the readers will find a review of the long term research activity in the field of compact heat 
exchangers carried out at the Institute for Energy and Process Engineering of the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad.
