Focus is made on water-based fire protection technology, such as sprinklers and mist systems. Mechanisms of suppression and performance of different types of systems are discussed. Both experimental studies and mathematical modeling techniques are reviewed. In particular, computational fluid dynamics models available for simulation of water sprays are discussed in more detail.
